2025 NCRD Meeting

Please join us in the Pellan Room at Library and Archives Canada (LAC) from May 14-15, 2025 for the annual National Claims Research Directors Meeting. The draft agenda is below, but is subject to change.

PLEASE NOTE: we are scheduling round table discussions this year and encourage you to share your own unique experiences from across Canada – we hope you will bring your experiences or challenges to our table to discuss.

We will kickstart the session with a brief presentation, and then convene a roundtable discussion where you can share some of your experiences and strategies for maintaining institutional knowledge and/or picking up the pieces in the face of changes.

Following yesterday afternoon’s session, we will convene a round table discussion on key priorities for reform given the current political climate. We welcome you to share your thoughts and experiences so we can identify key areas of commonality that the Research Directors can champion, while equally supporting region-based priorities.

10:15 amROUNDTABLE 3: Equity in Access to Information

Yesterday, we heard from LAC and CIRNAC on Access to Information changes/updates – we want to hear from you on how and where Research Directors need to engage and advocate for our equitable access to information.

After a brief overview/example being shared, we will dive into describing what projects you are you working on. What types of issues or “new claims” are being raised in your Nations? Engage in a high-level discussion to help identify possible fall workshop panels and subjects to dive into more fully.

This roundtable will give Research Directors space to discuss:
– How do you approach developing your work plan submissions.
– Developing common language for reporting on challenges
– Grappling with changes in funding levels beyond 2025-26.
